What is lmftp

With lmftp you can schedule file transfers using the file transfer protocoll (ftp) on a onetime or regulary basis. lmftp will download the defined source files, optionally compress them and upload them to the defined destinations.

Source files can reside on one or more ftp servers. Once a lmftp job is startet, these source files are downloaded to a local working directory. Depending on the job's configuration, the downloaded files can optionally be concatenated, added to a compressed archive and locally backed up. They are then uploaded to the destination ftp servers and the job's logfile is send to all defined notification email addresses. Follow this link to find out more about lmftp's features.

The scope of lmftp is file distribution but one might also use it for backup purposes.
